Sepia tone image by Sanke-Berlin, Friedrich Ritter von Roth, posing beside his fighter aircraft.He was credited with 28 aerial victories, primarily against observation balloons, a very risky target.He was awarded the Iron Cross 1st Class, and the Pour le Merite. He survived the war only to commit suicide in December 1917, reportedly depressed by Germany's defeat. The reverse displays a collector added image ofthe pilot cut froma magazine.
