Original period postcard. A sepia tone image from the famous Sanke firm of Berlin. It depicts a front profile of the Helgoland dreadnaught class battleship SMS Thringen, and flying off of her bow is an early seaplane. Postal used reverse marked Feldpost and dated 1914. The Thringen fought in and survived the Battle of Jutland in 1916, and the majority of her crew mutinied in October 1918 in response to the deprivations of WWI. Normal handling and wear.
