Original era manufacture and photography. A very large archival grouping to a German soldier who served throughout the Great War, including the terrible battle of Verdun in 1916.The individual served as a soldier in the 2nd Machine Gun Company, of Reserve Infantry Regiment Nr.67. His war service began in August 1914 with battles near Etain, Pont a' Mousson, Gincrey,Yser, and elsewhere to August 1916. That month saw him participating in the Verdun charnel house, at Bergwald,Souville. In 1918 he saw combat service near Soissons, Reims, Champagne front where he may have encountered American troops. The size of this groupingmakes it difficult to accurately describe in the limited space here, however it consists of over 100 individual items, to include over 60 original bw postcard images, many identified on the reverse, of his service during WWI. Documents for his awards are present to include the Iron Cross 2nd class, his paybook with many entries including the listing of the battles he participated in, pre-war service documents, and a small book which serves as a photo album, containing over 100 originalcandid images, of his service and the places he saw during this time, with most being identified. Excellent research potential, and a true time capsule of one soldier's experiences during WWI.
