Original era manufactured. A tattered and worn lot of three award documents, their condition being a testament to the hard service endured by the recipient during WWII. The lot consists of KvK 2nd Class with Swords (20 January 1944), Winterschlacht im Osten (10 August 1944) and Infantry Assault Badge (1 January 1942), all named to Gefreiten Ernst Rebel, IR 315, and Feldersatz Battalion 238. IR 315 formed part of the 167th Division, a Bavarian unit, which saw service in France in 1940, served under Guderian during the drive on Moscow, encircled in the Cherkassy Pocket, after which the unit was disbanded. Reformed as the 167th Volksgrenadiers in Hungary in September 1944, being formed from the survivors of the original division, with additional recruits from the partially formed 585th Volksgrenadiers and units of the 17th Luftwaffe Field Division. It was sent to Belgium in December 1944 where it took part in the later days of the Ardennes Offensive. The division was nearly destroyed in the battles of the Siegfried Line, with the survivors of the battered division finally surrendering in the Ruhr Pocket in 1945.
