Original period manufacture. Olive brown wool felt body with a clear makers name on the leather sweatband, Helmfabrik W&F B.N..On the underside of the sweatband it is size marked 57 and dated 42. The original chinstrap is intact, as are both original metal shields. The leather edge binding shows age and wear, showing scattered flaking and  missing portions.
