Original era manufacture. A clean example of the second pattern German Army tropical helmet. Dark olive green wool felt helmet in a size 56. Both original metal emblems are present and sound, original leather chinstrap. Most of the leather edge binding remains, showing scattered wear and use, with the wire reinforcing band peeking through in a few spots. The body and visors are clean and dent free, the felt covered ventilator cover does not match in color.  On the underside of the sweatband is the size and date 56-1942, and on the top side the makers initials of JHS along with an importer inkstamp marked GERMANY.  This is likely one of the helmets imported into the US in the early 1960's, I remember seeing this in my Granddad's Elks magazine advertised for $5.95.
