Original period manufacture. Early quality pebbled aluminum buckle with nice detail to its obverse and a fair amount of original feldgrau paint on its reverse. Original sewn leather adjusting tab is unit marked 8/JR24. The 24th Infantry Regiment formed part of the 21st Infantry Division which was part of the standing army in 1939. During WWII it fought in the following campaigns, Poland, France and Russia. It ended the war in Eastern Prussia where its survivors surrendered to the Russians.
