Original era publication. Used, issue Soldbuch for a soldier who served in a variety of units during WWII, the last entry being Grenadier Regiment 899. There is a handwritten notation on the front of the cover "found on dead German soldier".He was issued an MP38 serial number 7112, and bayonet 1534. No award entries, part of the rear cover is missing. No photo, never appeared to have had one. Grenadier Regiment 899 formed part of the 266th ID, a static defense division, assigned to the Brittany coast in 1944. While not directly involved in the D-Day operation, it saw continuous combat through the summer of 1944, resulting in its near complete destruction during combat with the US 4th & 6th Armored divisions in August.
