Original period manufacture. Nice quality officers visor in doeskin wool with white wool piping and dark green wool band. Aluminum eagle and an embroidered bullion wire wreath with a silver double strand chinstrap. Pale gray silk lining with the an unmarked, intact sweatshield. The name Hauptmann Mashler (we think) appears on the name tag inside the diamond and the metal letters O M are attached to the sweatband. There is a tear in the sweatband but overall the leather is quite sound. The hat is not crushed or broken, does have a few spots of moth nibbles, but overall presents an honest, soldier-worn condition. The front visor may have been restitched, but the visor is not loose. Great looking old hat and with some real research potential.
