Original period manufacture. No decal M1940 steel helmet with original dark ordnance green paint on the shell. Maker marked on the rear of the neckguard Q64, and below a lot number lightly struck, DN343, I am not 100% on those being the numbers due to the shallowness of the strike. Original German leather liner & band, replaced drawstring, slot washers are in place on the rivet blades. Original German chinstrap with inked makers info on the tan side of the tip with what looks to be a 1942 date. As this is a no decal helmet, a previous owner made an attempt to clean the surface on the right side below the ventilator opening to check for an SS decal. Nothing there except for a shield shaped outline of about a dozen silver specks. No claim to anything here, just reporting the results of someone's efforts, better if they would have left it alone.
