Original era manufacture. A very sound example of the second pattern helmet of pressed felt rather than canvas covered cork. The olive colored felt body is very sound, no tears or breaks. The thin leather chinstrap is intact, with some minor scuffing to the leather edge binding. Complete interior with a leather sweatband that is size marked and dated, 56 1942, on the underside. Many examples of this helmet were found in storage during the late 1950's, and a number were imported into the United States bearing the inkstamp, Made in Germany. Unusual makers logo on the sweatband.
