Original era manufacture. Well, here is a little project to while away the hours during the current Covid madness. When it came into our hands, the hat was smashed flat, with a broken visor (showing a poor attempt at repair courtesy of Mr. duct tape), missing its eagle, and showing a large cigarette burn hole on the top. Plastered onto the underside of the missing visor, was a masking tape tag proclaiming the hat to be "rare", Chaplain 100-. In truth the piping is certainly a purple color, but the current color was due to light exposure, causing fading from Corn Flower blue, to the current purple. The original blue color can be seen by lifting up the sides of the top, exposing the piping which was never exposed to light fading. The lining is in tatters, the cap band broken in several spots, however the lining is intact with a readable makers label. In the final analysis, the hat is pretty rough, yet fairly complete, needing an aluminum cap eagle to complete. Have Fun...
