Original era manufacture. Very fine quality feldgrau doeskin wool overcoat with French cuffs and a dark green wool collar. Full imitation silk body and sleeve lining, with a reinforced opening on the left side, to allow a sword or dagger strap to clip onto the suspension strap at the bottom of the left arm opening. Very nice Koln tailor's tag in the collar, with the same name appearing on the tag in the interior pocket. On each shoulder is a shoulder strap for the rank of a Reserve Leutnant, serving with the 56th Artillery. These have been expertly installed, and to my eye appear to be original to the coat. Now here is where it get's interesting. The original owner's name is quite visible on the pocket tag, reading "Dr. Keller, Kriegsrichter" with a date of 29-10-37. A Kriegsrichter is a military judge, a Court Martial judge. There has to be a story here, could be a fun research project. All buttons are present, no moth damage noted, there might be a small bite or two but certainly nothing glaring, really a very fine quality coat. Size about a 40 regular.
