German WWII Army Officers White Cotton Summer Tunic

Original period manufacture. White cotton tunic in a sort of quilted material, four pocket with a closed collar. There are two support buttons on the reverse of the tunic andnine closure buttons down the front, all are held in place with split rings.On the left side are loops for two badges and a ribbon bar. On the right side are loops for a metal breast eagle. The 86th Regiment Majors shoulder straps were found in thepocket of the tunic at the time of our purchase andtheir white wool bases match the condition of the tunic perfectly. We feel these are the straps which originally came with the coat and removed and placed there for some reason. There is considerable staining to the coat with yellowing from age andhandling. Nodoubt a light dry cleaning would work wonders for its display effect, perhaps that is why the straps were removed, aprevious owner was going to give that a try. No tears or rot, just a few extra holes around the loops for the breast eagle.
