Original era manufacture. Nice quality watch fob displaying an Army pattern silver eagle on a dark green ribbon. Small metal tab at the bottom of the ribbon declares this to be a 15 (E) J.R. 63. Measures 119 mm in length including the chain and snaphook.During WWII the 63rd Infantry Regiment fought in Poland and France earning a good reputation for combat. In 1940, it became part of the 17th Panzer Division.In 1941, 17th Panzer served with Army Group Center during the advance on Moscow, it destroyed 100 Russian tanks in a single day, July 9, 1941.Transferred to Army Group South in 1942, it attempted to relieve von Paulus's army at Stalingrad but was itself encircled. It saw combat at Kursk in the summer of 1943, and the subsequent retreat through the Ukraine. It ended the war east of Prague in 1945.
