Original era manufacture. Standard army pattern M1942 steel helmet with a very clear Heer pattern decal on its left side. On the right, can be seen a matching condition RAD decal.Nearly all of the original combat green paint finish remains on the helmet surface, sound brown leather liner with a twine adjusting cord. All of the rivets with slot washers are in place.The chinstrap is an original leather strap but has been carefully sewn in place in each end and is no longer adjustable. Perhaps period done, or a later replacement, it does show age and use. A scarce helmet variant that we seldom see. Years ago I purchased a similar helmet from an 82nd ABN veteran, however in that instance, the Heer eagle was placed directly over the RAD emblem, with the eagle's wingtips peeking out on either side.
