Original period manufacture. A large bodied canteen with a wool felt cover and canvas suspension straps. Black bakelite screw cap with a red rubber washer. There is some mothing around the neck of the canteen and a few spots on the body, but most of the worst would be covered by the cup for display. The cup is a later war pattern of olive painted steel and frankly is incorrect for this canteen, a bakelite, jigger-style cup would be more appropriate and fit better. The cup retains most of its original finish and is maker marked MM and dated 43.
