Original period manufacture. This piece could almost qualify for a piece of art it's that well made. I believe the material is bronze, displaying a bas-relief display of two workers flanking an impressive German eagle on a a piller topped with books. There are two small loops at its base with fragments of a thin chain, from which the bronze cogwheel emblem was once suspended. This looks to be an easy repair, as the mounting points on the cogwheel are intact as well. Plaque measures 8x10 inches. A very high quality piece.
