Original era manufacture. Later war zinc medal with a very clean, unused original ribbon. Maker marked on the ring either 6 or 9. Original issue packet showing light wear and use. Included with the medal is an original award document for the Eastern Front medal. Awarded to Gefreiter Rudolf Knaak, 3rd Battalion, Artillery Regiment 225 in July of 1942. Signed by his Battalion Commander.AR 225, served with the 225th Infantry Division throughout WWII. It participated in the taking of Amsterdam in 1940, and served in France as occupation forces until the end of 1941. In January 1942 it was hurriedly sent to reinforce the Russian Front, assigned to Army Group North. The division participated in the Siege of Leningrad, the retreat through the Baltic states in 1944, and ended the war in Latvia. Corporal Rudolf Knaak, was born in Behlkow, East Prussia, on the 26th of November 1923, and died in Russia on 8 January 1943.
