Original period manufacture. Silver & green wire in near new condition. This is our best guess as to what this cord is. Similar examples can be seen, or written about in Shutt'sDress and Field Service Hats of the Third Reich and Moran & Maguire's German Headgear of WWII.It was included as a part of a recently purchased WWII veterans trophy flag. The GI served with artillery attached to the US XXth Corps. Near new condition showing storage age and wear only.One customer suggests the following: is a German ZOLL (Customs) cap cord, it is the type for equivalent of higher grade officers.
