Original era manufacture. Likely most collectors of WWII German militaria would agree that a great part of the allure of this material, is certainly the quality of manufacture, but also the numerous issue stamps and proofs that can be found on just about any item of issue. This pattern sword certainly fills the bill in both categories very nicely.Twenty-eight inch chromed steel blade running straight and true, very clean with no issues beyond some very minor clouding to the surface near the ricasso. The spine has an early pattern waffenamt proof near the guard. All brass guard, backstrap-pommel, which is wonderfully marked on the bottom side of the guard with an early style waffenamt, serial number 15656, and the initials C.E. (Carl Eickhorn) and the letter G (1935 production). The leather finger loop is in sound pliable condition.Black plastic wrapped grip which is bound with double strand twisted wire. The blue steel finished scabbard is nearly dent free, the matching serial number 15656 is on one side, and on the other C.E./G along with an early waffenamt proof on the other. An additional waffenamt can be seen on the drag.
