Original era manufacture. A very fine quality private purchase Heer Beamte officer's service cap. Very nice doeskin wool body, saddle shaped, with green wool piping. Dark green wool cap band, with matching green wool piping. Pale yellow imitation silk lining with an intact sweat shield which displays the makers name of "Aussrustungshaus" (equipment store) in Kassel Germany, size marked 56. Securely sewn front visor, and pale tan leather sweatband. Original to the hat aluminum eagle and wreath, with a silver braided wire chin cord. The hat is in it's proper configuration, not crushed or damaged, or out of proper shape. I have counted five, very small moth bites, one on the top edge front piping, one just above the upper right corner of the wreath, one on the right top edge of the body, one on the rear edge of the body, and the last one, the largest (measures 3x4 mm) on the top edge rear of the cap band. There is some staining to the front part of the lining, from perhaps being stored, or displayed on a helmet or mannequin head. Overall the hat exhibits very light wear and use.
