Original era manufacture. Feldgrau wool coat with a dark green wool collar. Four pleated pockets with pointed flaps. Full complement of feldgrau painted aluminum buttons. The collar tabs are hand sewn, as is the silver wire eagle, I feel the shoulder straps are original to the tunic, as I cannot see any evidence of the inside shoulder seam being disturbed to change them out. Loops for a single badge on the upper left chest pocket. Full imitation silk body lining with a cut-out at the left waist for a dagger or sword strap (strap not present). Large Berlin tailor label in the collar, with a matching tailor name tag on the left side interior pocket. This tag also provides the original owner's name "Richter" and the date of 3.2.42. Size about a 38 regular. Overall, the coat is quite clean looking and presentable for display. The officers pattern eagle and collar tabs may be replacements, but original WWII insignia, however as previously stated, the shoulder straps are period to the coat. A regimental number once adorned the tops of the straps, but no evidence of rank pips, so the current rank is correct, Leutnant. Scattered mothing to the body, the most visible being a 4x7 mm hole opposite the third from top button hole. Other areas affected are the top of the right shoulder, an additional 4.7 mm hole on the back below the collar, on the inside of the left cuff, and minor fraying from service wear on the bottom of the cuffs.
