Original period manufacture. Late war produced M1942 pattern steel helmet without a decal, with most of the original dark green paint finish remaining intact. No makers code visible, but a lot number of 0661 is deeply stamped into the rear neck guard. Complete and very sound original liner with draw string, no broken fingers, all of the original rivets with slot washers are in position. Unbroken original leather chinstrap with faint makers markings on the tip. Size marked 57 in the liner. Accompanying with helmet at the time of our purchase, from a reliable source I might add, are five pages of copied pages consisting of a letter, photos and newspaper clippings regarding the GI who brought the helmet and other assorted items home with him from WWII.
