Original era manufacture. Feldgrau gabardine wool four-pocket service coat with a dark green badge wool covered collar. Original sewn officer quality Infantry piped collar litzen, original infantry officer shoulder straps bearing a gothic letter M for Machine Gun Battalion and the number 5. These are straps are original to the coat. Hand-sewn officers quality Heer pattern coat eagle. On the left coat pocket are loops for two badges and likely a screw-back Iron Cross 1st Class. Light weight partial body lining with full linings in each sleeve. Stitched to the bottom hem of the lining is the tailors name Kucera, upon turning the hem over the complete label is shown giving the street address in Praha (Prague) and the customers name of Reidl. Unfortunately the moths were allowed to have their way with the coat over the years so there are several spots of mothing present; the right upper pocket, the lower right sleeve above the cuff turn-up, the lower left front edge of the coat. In addition there are several scattered bites here and there. Unusual theater made coat, identified and to a Machine Gun unit, not a bad trade-off.
