Original period manufacture. Early HJ knife by Anton Wingen, faint Blut und Ehre motto on the blade, maker logo on the reverse. The blade is clean, no corrosion pitting, just some scattered toning from age, we have not attempted any cleaning of the surface since our purchase. Chrome alloy finish to the guard and pommel with some areas of grime that can be cleaned away. Again, we have not made any effort to clean this, some folks like the patina finish.The quillon on the guard has been pushed up a bit. Sound black plastic grips without any damage, intact HJ diamond with a single small dark spot in one of the red sections.Steel scabbard, which for some inexplicable reason, has had theblack paintfinish carefully removed from the top of the scabbard. The reverse reveals a very nice lacquer finish, withonly a small rectangular portion remaining at the top. ???Very sound leather belt loop with an intact pommel strap and snap closure.Included with the knife is a short note provided by the veteran's daughter regarding her possession of the knife in the past.
