Original era manufacture. Standard HJ Fahrtenmesser with scabbard and intact leather belt loop, displaying the J.A. Henckels trademark and 1938 date on the blade.The blade is a bit of a variant in that it has a clipped point, shows wear and use and evidence of an old sharpening. The grips are sound, no cracks or chips, with an undamaged enamel diamond. Normal age and wear to the guard and pommel, with a good bit of it being 75 year old grime, we have not made an effort to clean this in any way.The scabbard displays an old period repaint to the scabbard body, and as stated previously, the leather belt loop and pommel strap are sound and operable.The knife comes with two original capture certificates (only 1 shown) issued to the same 26th Division soldier allowing him to bring this knife back as a souvenir.Purchased from the GI's family.
