Original era manufacture. A beautiful example of a WWII German Iron Cross 1st Class, maker marked 15 (Friedrich Orth) on the attaching pin.Nearly 100% of the original frosting remains on the ribbing, with bright plating on the frame edges, and a beautifully finished non-magnetic core. The reverse of the cross also retains most of its frosted finish, with discoloration visible on the horizontal arms from handling over the years. The case is also quite nice with a magnetic push button and hinge; no issues to the surfaces, with a domed top. This cross formed part of the WWII souvenirs brought home by Robert Gehlhoff, 3rd Infantry Division; who served with the "Rock of the Marne" division in North Africa, Sicily, Anzio, Southern France and Germany.
