Original period manufacture. Documents for the Iron Cross 2nd Class, and Eastern Front Medal, both awarded to Obergefreiter August Achilles, who served with 4th Battery, Artillery Regiment 31, 31st Infantry Division in Russia during WWII.The Iron Cross document is signed by the divisional commander of the 31st, General-Major Ochsner on 20 April 1944, and the Eastern Front by his regimental commander on the 15th of August 1942.The 31st Infantry Regiment saw service in southern Poland in 1939, Belgium in 1940, and served on the Eastern Front for the remainder of the war, until destroyed in the fall of Berlin in 1945.
