Original era manufacture. Hand embroidered silver wire on a black wool backing. I took this eagle out into the bright Arizona sunlight to make sure the backing material is black, not blue, and the verdict is black.Thank you Mark K. for the following information:"an eagle intended for a judge's robe. There have been a few discussions about them in the Wehrmacht Awards Forum, and the one you have is a textbook example. The head facing to the left, the legs being done with single horizontal threads, so they resemble two stacks of car tires, and the little red tongue in the beak, are all hallmark elements of these judicial eagles."Never used, does not glow under a UV light, no moth issues, a very clean piece of insignia.
