Original era manufacture. This interesting combination was recently purchased by us at the last Pomona Show. Grimy and filthy, with the markings being very difficult to read, but I was able to read the word Elite on the ricasso. After a brief bath and clean-up this is what we have; standard WWII S84/98 bayonet made by Elite Diamant, spine date 39, and serial number 2788k. A fair amount of the original satin blue finish remains on the blade, slightly rounded point, patina finish to the guard, pommel and flashguard, the lock mechanism works as it should, dark plum bakelite grips. Standard steel scabbard but with the late-war SGX Horster proof most often found on the rivet-grip bayonet, stamped 6303 hh. Parkerized finish with corrosion on the tip and a sizable dent on the reverse from service use. The scabbard throat screw is present. Quite a rare combination, totally by chance...
