Original era manufacture. An interesting example perhaps made in occupied France. Originally made in the tiny size 53, it was resized by the addition of an extrap portion of material carefully sewn to the rear of the hat, thereby increasing the size to 56. This is not the first time we have had period resized hats, and have seen this several times in the past. Original sewn insignia at front, near new, likely due to the size.
