Original era manufacture. A very clean example of the classic Navy marked Reichskriegsfahne, size 150 x 250 cm, maker marked by Curt Brautigam, Plauen, Vogtland. No holes, tears or major staining, the only issue is one of the halyard loops has been removed. The body of the flag displays extensive notations regarding the service of the 691st Tank Destroyer Battalion in Europe during WWII. These notations included the Armies and Divisions they served with, the names of their fallen comrades (including Colonel Frank Buchannan of Pennsylvania), the names of some of the towns they fought through; Hill 265, Echternach, Morbach, Nancy, Toul, Saarlautern, Frankfurt, Maginot Line, Siegfried Line and more. In addition the names and home states of a number members of 1st Platoon, C Company are written on the body of the flag, lots of Pennsylvania Boys, and four soldiers who called Arizona home. A wonderful flag with an extensive history.
