Original era manufacture. Early, quality construction badge which is maker marked on its reverse. Wonderful, soldier repair to the pin and catch. What he lacked in finesse, the soldier more than made up for in durability. He employed the Fred Flintstone method of repair. A simple iron nail was flattened on one end and slipped through the hinge and then a small hole was drilled in the body of the badge nest to the elevation wheel. Another smaller piece of iron was pressed into place, and then bent over to make the catch. An interesting repair job and in our opinion it certainly adds to the charm (but not the price) for those who value soldier repaired items. The badge shows heavy wear and use, but displays tons of personality.
