Original era manufacture. A large pattern Luftwaffe eagle of white wool felt, with gray stitched decoration. The reverse is perhaps the most interesting feature of the eagle, as the material the obverse is stitched to, reveals its true purpose.Black cotton covered reverse, with the tips of the wings backedin red cotton, and the swastika evenly divided intoblack and red segments. I believe this design indicates that the eagle formed part of a Flak Battalion Command Pennant, which was cut apart to provide a souvenir for a pair of GI's during WWII. In any casethe eagle makes a great centerpiece for a Luftwaffe insignia display.
