Original era manufacture. Norwegian capture K98 rifle stock which comes complete with the following; laminate wood stock and upper handguard, upper and lower barrel bands, bayonet lug, band spring, recoil bolt and flat butt plate. The stock is sound, with good color and dark blue finish to the metal fittings. The serial number 4228 appears on all components displaying a number except the band spring and butt plate which are not numbered but display the waffenamt code 26, as the other proofed components. The butt plate also displays a Norwegian applied number. On the right stock face is the letter L, for Luftwaffe issue, and faint waffenamt eagle proofs. That this stock saw service during WWII, is illustrated by the very neatly done repair to the toe of the stock. A piece of hardwood toe from another donor K98 stock, has been expertly fitted in place, and secured with two wooden pins.  Collectors can be of two minds regarding repairs of this sort, it is a detraction, or a plus illustrating the weapons use during the War. Lastly it does not have an dowel reinforcement through the bolt handle recess. Nice golden brown color, with normal dings and dents from service use.
