Original era manufacture. Satin blue paint finish with original decals as shown. Complete and sound leather liner with adjusting string with unit markings on the underside. All three early type rivets are present with slot washers. The helmet displays scattered areas of service wear to the exterior with scraping and minor paint loss. These are simply indicators of service during the war, telling us that the helmet did not sit idly on a depot, or kaserne shelf during WWII. The chinstrap shows wear and use, but is not broken. Original owners name Kruger painted in white paint on the under side of the rear skirt. The heads of the liner rivets are interesting, as they are of the correct early alloy pattern but with a feldgrau overpaint on each of them. The original satin Luftwaffe blau appears beneath each of them, some more, some less. Perhaps a field depot repair. The unit marking may be an interesting clue to this, someone with a better knowledge of the translation of these may discover something very interesting here. I won't give my opinion on this as it might seem as to wanting to the gild the Lily, but it might make a nice little research project.
