Original era manufacture. Standard pattern Luftwaffe sword made by SMF and with a Luftwaffe property stamp just above the makers logo on the blade. The 28 inch chromed steel blade is quite clean, runs straight and true with a single nick in the cutting edge. Aluminum guard and pommel with traces of the swastika gilding on each. The ferrule is incorrect for this sword being made for a nickel fitted sword rather than of aluminum and is a bit narrow as there is a small gap between the base of the blade and guard. Typical leather wrapped grip with wire binding, it shows some surface scuffing to the leather but nothing terrible looking. Leather covered scabbard body showing some scattered scuffs and scrapes but again nothing terrible. There is an electrical tape repair (boy, I hate those) just below the upper scabbard fitting and the leather hanger is attached by only one leather loop. All scabbard screws are present.
