Original era manufacture. A stamped zinc badge with a silver wash to the surface, Ges. Gesch. marked on the reverse, with three brass attaching prongs.This insignia is identified in Volume 2, Uniforms & Equipment of the Luftwaffe by Angolia & Schlicht, on page 142. It describes it as being worn on the tunic on the right side of the chest, with the letters GL in metal worn on the collar.It is made just like any other piece of hat insignia, and if memory serves, an image of an elderly Luftwaffe officer standing in line with his teenage troops exists as well.  Very sound condition, light age and wear.
