Original era manufacture. Early production dagger with a fairly unusual (we believe) makers mark for Carl FR Kuhrt, Zella Mehlis on its ricasso. The blade is clean with lots of original polish remaining but does have a few spots of surface corrosion. We have made no serious efforts to clean or improve the blade beyond wiping it down. Very mellow golden tone to the upper and lower scabbard fittings and guards. The grip retains both of its original emblems with wear to the surface varnish/finish as shown. On the reverse of the grip the tiny initials E.G. have been lightly carved into the grips surface. Lightly dented scabbard tip ball, all original fitting screws are present. The steel body of the scabbard retains good color with light surface corrosion and patina. Our friend JZ advised us that according to a recent reference book regarding SA dagger production, this example has a rarity scale of 8, with only a 1000 or so produced. Price stays the same.
