Original era manufacture. Standard early style SS enlisted dagger with nickel fittings and a black painted steel scabbard. Eickhorn trademark on the reverse of the blade which also shows a portion of the original Ernst Rohm presentation. Disgraced after his murder at the hands of the SS in 1934, many of these presentation daggers had their inscriptions removed entirely, this one only the name has been removed. The blade is very clean with a nice contrast of the motto lettering against the blade surface. No corrosion damage, the edges are unsharpened however the tip is slightly blunted. The wooden grip shows some typical chipping wear the upper and lower guards, more near the upper guard, with a small crack on the reverse. The white smear you see on the reverse of the grip has been cleaned away, it looked to be old polish residue. The steel scabbard surface shows a period repaint, a single shallow dent on the reverse and a slightly dented scabbard tip. All of the fitting screws are present as is the suspension ring. A private purchase black leather vertical hanger is mounted to the scabbard throat. A scarce dagger to find in any condition.
