German WWII M1935 Double Decal Luftwaffe Helmet, Named, Kampfgeschwader 27 "Boelcke", ET64

Original era manufacture. This is a great example of the classic M1935 double decal Luftwaffe helmet, first of all, it's untouched, secondly it is named to its original owner and unit marked to one of the early Luftwaffe Kampfgeschwader, KG27 Boelcke. A rough combat texture paint has been applied over the original parade finish with decals as shown. All original rivets and slot washers are in place. There is a seldom seen makers name and size stamp in the exterior of the leather liner. The liner leather is quite pliable, more substantial than most and retains its original adjusting string. After carefully bending the liner fingers out we can see the handstitched cloth nametag to Gerhard Obermeyer and next to that the inkstamped unit mark I/Boelcke 1938. On the opposite side is a rather long, but quite indistinct inkstamp of some kind. Very pliable 1940 dated original and complete chinstrap, likely a wartime replacement as it's condition matches the rest of the helmet perfectly. The only flaw to note is a slight irregular outline at the base of one of the liner fingers. Normal age and wear throughout. According to some brief research attempted by SMA, we find that KG27 was established in May of 1939 with HE-111 aircraft. KG27 participated in the Polish Campaign, French Campaign, Battle of Britain and Operation Barbarossa (including the support and attempted relief of the 6th Army at Stalingrad) It ended the war, out of fuel and assigned as air defense troops in 1945.
