Original era manufacture. A sound example of an early production German Navy helmet, maker marked on the inside of the neckskirt ET64.Most of the original exterior paint finish remains, which exhibits a gloss exterior. The gold toned eagle decal on the left side, is certainly a Navy decal, unmistakable, and not an age toned silver army decal. The tricolor decal was removed per OKW order and it's outline can be clearly seen on the right side. Very pliable leather liner without a drawstring, the fingers are all sound with no tears or rips. The liner chinstrap loops are of a later pattern, as are two of the rivets holding the liner in place. Each of the rivets have their slot washers, but I feel that the liner, which is 100% original, has been collector replaced at some point in time.It has an original German made leather chinstrap, which is likely one from a refurbished Norwegian capture helmet, as it shows the telltale brown dye on one side. Clear makers mark and 1940 date on the adjustable side, and shortened a bit on the other.
