German WWII M1940 Luftwaffe Steel Helmet, Q66

Original era manufacture. Standard M1940 steel helmet, which is maker marked by Quist, Q66 in the rear of the neckskirt, with the lot number, T4634.The interior of the helmet shell displays a smooth finish, Luftwaffe color paint scheme, with a rather tattered original leather liner in place. All of the original rivets are in place along with their appropriate slot washers, I do not believe this liner has ever been out of this helmet.The exterior of the helmet displays a very rough texture, dark, almost black, combat finish, which has been post manufacture applied, effectively hiding any chance of a peek at an original decal. At some point in it's life, the helmet has had a swastika design rubbed into the crown of the helmet. The steel has darkened so much that I didn't notice it when we purchased the helmet. Just part of it's story now.
