Original era manufacture. A solid example with an interesting history. Standard 1940 pattern Wehrmacht helmet which was issued to a member of the Norwegian Garrison and surrendered there in 1945. The helmet was then refurbished by the Norwegian military postwar and issued for use by the Norwegian Homeguard. In the early 1970's hundreds if not thousands of these Norwegian helmets were brought to the USA and sold through surplus outlets on the East coast. This example is clearly marked Q66 on its neckguard, has an original WWII German chinstrap and leather liner, however both show a typical post WWII Norwegian dye job. At some point in its life a former owner decided to restore the helmet to a Army pattern, double decal example (incorrect for a 1940 pattern), doing a decent enough job in the process. Traces of the Norwegian decals remain beneath the dark feldgrau paint. Typical age and wear overall.
