Original era manufacture. Standard M1942 steel helmet with a postwar applied ordnance tan paint finish, maker marked NS66 in the neckskirt. Size 59 marked leather liner, with a new made leather chinstrap with buckle. I remember these helmets being sold by a now defunct mid-west auction house in the early 1990's, right after the fall of the Berlin Wall. In fact, the original auction sales tag is still attached to the chinstrap buckle. These were offered in the direct sale section, and were advertised as intended for the Afrika Korps, but I doubt if any of Rommel's men ever saw any of them. The helmet is very clean, the liner is soft and pliable with a correct type drawstring, all of the slot-washers are present on the liner pins, and the chinstrap is correctly made but very new.
