Original era manufacture. An honest, combat used helmet shell with traces of the eagle and tri-color decal remaining, with a wartime applied rough combat finish over the original paint. Maker and size marked on the neck skirt Q (Quist mfg) 64, original rivets in place, two of which retain their slot washers.Original WWII leather liner, which was refurbished by Norway postwar, as indicated by the brown dye finish and large 56 in a circle size stamp. The original WWII German size stamp is also visible onthe liner leather. The leather is soft and pliable, none of the fingers are pulled through, and a brown shoelace has been installed as an adjusting string. The likely scenario regarding this old helmet is that the original liner was in such poor condition it was replaced by a previous owner with one of the (then) common Norwegian refurbished liners available on the market. The helmet itself is a classic German combat helmet of WWII, maybe a salty size 56 liner is in sitting in your collection looking for a good home...
