Original era manufacture. A very clean example, matching numbers blade to scabbard, with a 37 year date stamped on the spine, and maker coded S178 for Gebruder Heller.Satin blue finish to the blade of which most remains, serial numbered 9888b on the ricasso. No sharpening issues, and the point is quite sharp. Original blue finish to the guard, flashguard and pommel, with just a dusting of light surface corrosion, easily cleaned away.Original finish wooden grips in sound condition, typical light marring from surface use, and a shallow, elongated chip in the surface on the bottom edge of the right grip plate, measuring 5x15 mm.Very nice mounted pattern black leather bayonet frog, intact, and complete with its pommel strap. The stitching is sound and all four steel rivets are in place.
