German WWII Medal and Photo Lot, Purchased From Family

Original era manufacture and photography. Recently purchased from the niece of this soldier, who related that her uncle died in Russia during WWII.He is identified as Gunther Rauber, and from his photograph he is shown wearing the uniform of a Leutnant in the German Army.The lady related that her Grandmother spoke of him as a gentle soul, another individual caught up in the chaos of a world at war.The lot includes his photograph, ribbon for the Czech occupation medal, Iron Cross 1st class, Iron Cross 2nd class, and a small leather coin purse which stored the medals for many years. Additional information has been provided courtesy of Dana Bloomquist, of usmedals@gmail.com , stating that Gunther Rauber died July 1945, while a prisoner of war in Norway, and is buried in Trondheim.
