Original period manufacture. An issue quality tunic with dark brown wool collar and cuffs, four pocket, police green wool body. The collar tabs and sew-in shoulder straps are original sewn, as is the Duisburg sleeve eagle. The exterior of the tunic has loops for a badge on the left pocket. There are a few small moth bites in the tunic body, but overall the tunic is quite clean and presentable. Original lining is sound, size a 40 regular. We obtained this coat from a good customer of ours who in turn purchased it from the family of the man who brought it home from WWII. He served as an Army Air Corps mechanic in England and had little chance to obtain a souvenir from the war. During his voyage aboard a troopship returning him the the USA, he won this coat in a shipboard poker game. A fun story for certain. During WWII the city of Duisburg endured 229 Allied bombing raids resulting in the complete destruction of it's old city. I'm sure this policeman saw his share of the destruction raining from the skies.
